Circuit Breaker Analyzer & Timer CAT 250 Series

The CAT 250 Series is a compact, touch-screen circuit breaker analyzer and timer for medium- and high-voltage circuit breaker testing.

The CAT 250 Series combines timing analysis, motion measurement, vibration recording, analog signal monitoring, and optional high-current static and dynamic resistance measurement in one field-ready test platform.

CAT 250 introduces a touchscreen interface designed to significantly save the time required for test preparation and results analysis of all types of medium- and high-voltage circuit breakers. The graphical and numerical results can be analyzed using the standalone CAT 250 device via the intuitive 7” color touch-screen display.

The CAT 250 Series can record:

• Simultaneous timing measurement of up to 12 main contacts, including up to 4 breaks per phase and pre-insertion resistors, if present in the circuit breaker.
• Resistance measurement of pre-insertion resistors, if present in the circuit breaker.
• Static and dynamic resistance measurement with optional built-in micro-ohmmeter up to 500 A DC.
• Simultaneous measurement and control of up to 6 coil channels, including trip and close coil current, voltage, and resistance.
• Measurement of up to 6 auxiliary contacts.
• Measurement of up to 6 analog signals, including substation battery voltage, motor voltage, CT secondary currents for BSG testing, or other analog signals.
• Measurement of displacement, contact wipe, over-travel, rebound, damping time, and average velocity of the breaker’s moving parts using up to 3 transducer inputs.
• Recording of circuit breaker vibration fingerprints using up to 3 vibration channels for additional condition assessment.

Test results are printed on the 112 mm (4.4 inch) thermal printer (optional accessory) in tabular and graphical form.
